The crowd behaviour today and in the past: sociological contribution to the problematic of the crowd focused on francophone domain and literature

This thesis deals about the study of the crowd from 19th century till today. It focuses mainly on France and the crowd in literature. It is a sociological analysis with a literature point of view as well. The aim of the thesis is to show the evolution of the studies of the crowd and to analyse each aspects of the crowd (it's negative conotations, patology, collective soal, the leader of the crowd and psychological events like hypnosis, suggestion and identification). We try to reply to the question if the study of the crowd is valid also for current society.
